Giving a price quote isn’t really possible without knowing the full scope of what I’ll painting or drawing, etc. Or the surface in which is to be tackled and how it needs prepped or fixed. …So many variables.
While I do love to have complete freedom to paint whatever I want to, it is the customer who I am to work with and get inside their head for their thoughts. This often involves bouncing ideas off each other to try to pin point the concept. Often new ideas arise from this and a project evolves. Brainstorming can yield some really cool ideas.
With that being said, having some supporting reference for ideas to go by helps a lot. Not just one picture but multiply pictures for ideas can help to convey. Every bit of info that can be given helps me to form an image in my head.
When it comes to painting on a surface, it’s important to note the condition of the surface. For example if a motorcycle has dings or chips in it. While some imperfections some may live with them but also some things may need to be addressed. How much body work will be needed?
Getting photos of any project, weather it’s a vehicle or a wall, helps me see what I’m gonna be painting on. Size, texture, angles. How the art may flow best on and throughout the surface!
Also, many don’t seem to think about the fact that things can be shipped, anywhere in the world really. Things as motorcycle tins can be shipped easy enough. But also faux walls as well. When considering a wall mural, the faux wall can be put right over in front of and existing wall. The nice thing about doing it that way is the wall isn’t permanent. It could be moved if you move location. Or sold off and or changed out. While I don’t mind painting on textured surface, (especially if I’m airbrushing), smooth surface is nice. Also I can paint the faux wall/s from my own home, thus saving a lot of driving or travel. …Just food for thought.
